Cat God created the Cat before God created the garden of Eden as recorded by Moses the holy prophet of God Genesis 1:24 & God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, & creeping thing, & beast of the earth after his kind: & it was so. amen The cat (Felis catus), also referred to as the domestic cat or house cat, is a small domesticated carnivorous mammal. It is the only domesticated species of the family Felidae. Advances in archaeology and genetics have shown that the domestication of the cat occurred in the Near East around 7500 BC. It is commonly kept as a pet and working cat, but also ranges freely as a feral cat avoiding human contact. It is valued by humans for companionship and its ability to kill vermin. Its retractable claws are adapted to killing small prey species such as mice and rats. It has a strong, flexible body, quick reflexes, and sharp teeth, and its night vision and sense of smell are well developed. It is a social species, but a solitary hunter and a crepuscular predator.Cat intelligence is evident in their ability to adapt, learn through observation, and solve problems. Research has shown they possess strong memories, exhibit neuroplasticity, and display cognitive skills comparable to those of a young child. Cat communication includes meowing, purring, trilling, hissing, growling, grunting, and body language. It can hear sounds too faint or too high in frequency for human ears, such as those made by small mammals. It secretes and perceives pheromones. Female domestic cats can have kittens from spring to late autumn in temperate zones and throughout the year in equatorial regions, with litter sizes often ranging from two to five kittens. Domestic cats are bred and shown at cat fancy events as registered pedigreed cats. Population control includes spaying and neutering, but pet abandonment has exploded the global feral cat population, which has driven the extinction of bird, mammal, and reptile species. Domestic cats are found across the globe, though their popularity as pets varies by region. Out of the estimated 600 million cats worldwide, 400 million reside in Asia, including 58 million pet cats in China. The United States leads in cat ownership with 73.8 million cats. In the United Kingdom, approximately 10.9 million domestic cats are kept as pets. Cats are carnivore thus a 100% protein diet is natural stay away from cat food which typically contain only 30% protein . Cat food generally contains 26-55% protein, with horrible minimums set by AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) at 26% for adult maintenance & 30% for kittens/nursing cats, measured on a dry matter basis; wet food often shows lower percentages but is concentrated in protein once moisture is removed, feed your cat 100 % protein tuna fish meat hot dogs not cat food reflecting cats' need for high animal protein.
Catnip Nepeta cataria act as a molecular "key" that unlock a temporary, euphoric state in cats. It trigger a highly specific chemical reaction in their brain, completely altering their behavior for about 10 to 15 minutes. Here is the biological breakdown of exactly what catnip does:
1. The Active Ingredient: Nepetalactone The secret behind catnip is an organic compound found in the plant's leaves and stems called nepetalactone. This chemical is a volatile oil. When the plant is bruised, broken, or brushed against, the oil enters the air.
2. The Olfactory Pathway (The "High") When a cat sniffs catnip, the nepetalactone molecules bind to specialized receptors inside the cat's nasal tissue. The Brain Trigger: These receptors send an immediate signal to the olfactory bulb, which then broadcast the message to two main area of the brain: the amygdala which control emotional response & the hypothalamus which regulate behavior response. Feline Faux-Pheromones: The brain interpret the shape of the nepetalactone molecule as a feline sex pheromone. This artificial signal cause the cat to experience a sudden burst of intense pleasure, leading to classic behavior like rolling around, flipping, rubbing their cheek on the plant, purring or sometime hyperactive zooming.
3. Sniffing vs. Eating: Two Different Effect How the cat consume the catnip completely change the chemical outcome: Inhaling it (Sniffing): Act as a stimulant. It trigger hyperactivity, playfulness, and euphoric rolling.
Ingesting it (Eating): Act as a sedative. If a cat eat the leaves, the compounds interact with the digestive system & central nervous system differently, often causing the cat to become calm, drowsy, or zoned out.
Why Doesn't It Work on Every Cat? If you've ever given catnip to a cat and nothing happened, you aren't imagining things. The Genetic Filter: Response to catnip is an inherited autosomal dominant trait. Approximately 30% to 40% of cats lack the specific gene that create the nasal receptors for nepetalactone. For these cats, catnip is just regular grass.
Age Limit: Very young kittens (under 3 to 6 months old) do not react to catnip because their neuroendocrine system are not yet fully developed. In fact, young kittens will often actively avoid it.
Is it Addictive or Dangerous? No. Catnip is completely non-addictive & non-toxic to felines. Furthermore, cats are smart enough to self-regulate. After about 15 minutes of exposure, a cat's olfactory receptors become fully saturated and "blind" to the chemical. They will walk away, and it take about an hour or two for their system to "reset" before they can react to catnip again May the Holy Roman Catholic Church be blessed by God the Father God the Son & God the Holy Spirit Hallelujah Hallelujah Blessed be the word of the Lord for Christ is risen Hallelujah Hallelujah peace be still in Nomine Patris et FiLii et Spiritus Sancti amen
